Have a Happy Birthday Addison

Addisons big 1st birthday bash was this weekend (Saturday, August 23rd).  Yes, she is going to be one next Monday (Labor Day) but we had plans for that weekend.  Or rather should I say, her daddy had football games and coaches meetings.  As tired as we were after the party, and the next day, I’m glad we had it this weekend so we could rest.

Addison had a blast!  I know she won’t remember it when she’s 19 or even 7, but we have lots of great memories and had lots of fun.  So, maybe she won’t remember it, but we have pictures and video to show what a great time she had.

Addison had a lot of friends and family to help her celebrate her day.  Neighbors Lindsay and Jack, Neighbors Mark, Tonya, Hannah and Sarah, Cousins Scotty, Deena, Beth and Emily, Cousins Sonya, Allison and Sindey, Uncle Harold and Brenda, Aunt Karen, Libby and Cousins Christa and her son Gabriel, Friends Mrs. Madisetty, Friends Andy, Anna, Andrew and Alanna, Aunt Donna, Tyler and his girlfriend Megan, and last but not least, GG, Grandma, Papa Conn, Granny Kay and Granddaddy Ronnie.

After the party everyone headed over to our new house.  So, that explains the pictures I snuck in of the new house.  LOL!

I also wanted to give a shout out to Mullins Party Rental.  They provided the Moonbounce and Football throw…and a couple fans…which made the party a party!  Check them out for your next birthday bash or party.  They have excellent customer service and such a friendly staff.  I was amazed by how wonderful the company and staff were.  Thanks Mullins!

I’ll have some video up later.  :)

Snots, sniffles and skunks oh my!

This month has started out on the wrong foot, if it were possible for months to have feet.  It started going downhill when Addison transitioned to the toddler room Aug 4th.  While, she liked it at first, being completely out of the infant room, and away from her favorite teacher (Mrs. Madisetty) Wednesday the 6th was hard on her.  Thursday and Friday were better, but she’s started crying and chasing after me again.  She never cried when I left her with Mrs. Madisetty, and I don’t worry about her because I know her new teachers take good care of her.  But, she’s been crying and latching on to me so much more than normal since she went to the toddler room.  I know it’s a new place and a new way to get use to…and it’s uncomfortable to her…but it still hurts my heart to see her cry like that.  Maybe she will get better after she is in there for a little while longer.

The toddler room brought more to the table than just freedom.  It brought the sickies.  So, knowing something just wasn’t right with Addison, I took her to the doctor Tuesday the 11th.  The first thing that clued me in was she refused to eat….or wouldn’t eat very well.  That, for Mrs. Porky, was not like her at all.  Then, the low grade fever hit Monday night and she couldn’t shake it.  So, I decided to take her in.  Yep, ear infection!  The doc hooked her up with some antibiotics, but since she’s learned to SPIT, giving her the nasty tasting meds has been a challange.  So, Mommy, with the help of Grandma, took Addy’s medicine to CVS where they were so kind to flavor it for us (for a small fee of course of 2.99).  She kinda still spits it out, but it is a little easier to take and she will eventually (after fighting tooth and nail) suck it out of the dropper.  It’s NOT a pleasent experience for any of us.

While at the docs office, Mommy got a nice surprise!  On the table in the waiting room, I spied a copy of Valley Babies (our local free magazine for information on babies - conception and beyond with some advertisements for local baby shops, photography  and much more).   On the cover of Valley Babies for Aug/Sept was my sweet little angel!  Our photographer, Connie Edwards of Capturing Life Photography, submitted Addy’s photo and Valley Babies published her on the COVER!  Here’s a pic of the magaizine cover.  Did I know it? No, because I don’t own those photographs and Connie is free to submit them where she wants.  Did I care?  No, because I was flattered when I saw it.  I just wish she had called me!!

So, what you’ve been waiting for!  August pictures of Addison!

So maybe you’ve made it this far and are wondering to yourself “Self, what did this post have to do with skunks?”.    Well…the second update to this post is about the house.  This month started off with delivery of our brick (Old Overton Queen size) and mortar (Buff).  While admiring the new house….a neighbor stopped by.  Check out our “new neighbor” in the house pics for this month.  Bet you can’t guess who the “neighbor” was after all the talk about skunks!

It’s a Wiggly Party!

Last Thrusday Addison got to experience live and in person the Wiggles.  She LOVED it!   Before the concert, we headed over to the park to visit the geese, ducks and fish.  Addison had lots of fun there too.  She had one more action packed weekend!

She LOVED the Wiggles! It took a while for her to get use to them not being on TV. I mean…you know…she has just never seen them on anything but TV? Then after about 30-40 minutes, she got up in my lap and clapped, danced and sang with them. It was SO darn cute and worth EVERY penny! We bought her some stuffed Wags and Dorothy toys and a light up big red car wand.  She wouldn’t let that wand go…she would wave it around and laugh.  When we left, she held that wand all the way to the car.  I even had to change her clothes with it in her hand (not easy…we had to switch hands). She fell asleep holding her stuffed Wags toy in one hand and her wand in the other. The cutest thing I think is when they came out first in the big red car…she waved at them. It was SO precious.

Because my camera didn’t get charged completely I didn’t get to capture her at the end of the show.   She was so into them. They came out into the crowd and she was reaching for Murray when he passed by us. And at one point she was doing the *come here* with her hand. She wanted them to come get her!

Saturday after her nap, Addison decided to crawl out of her crib and make a run for it!   Well, she did everything but make a run for it because she plopped face down on the carpet.  It scared her pretty badly and she has a scratched nose as a result.  She was not herself Sunday and was very fussy.  I think she might have been a bit sore from falling.  Daddy immediately came in and moved her crib springs to the lowest setting and removed the bumper.  Yeah…we loose a few pacis and toys, but at least she won’t be climbing out…hopefully.  She did try to do some pullups on the new bed setting but luckily she isn’t strong enough right now.  It won’t be long though!

The new house is coming right along.  I have some new pictures up of it.  We have plumbing and Shannon called me this afternoon saying the electrican, plumber and HVAC guys were there.  It’s coming right along!!!

Moving on up!

We had “the talk” with Addison’s daycare about her moving up to the toddler room.  She is walking and cruising over everything and everybody (everybody meaning the little babies), so I knew it was only a matter of time. Her official move date is the week of August 4th. She will do a transitional period of 3 days and be fully in the toddler room by Thursday of that week. The first day starts out with just a couple hours over in the toddler room during their quiet time. The second day, she will stay a little longer. The third will be most of the day. Then on Thursday, she will be completely transitioned. All the kids she started daycare with as a newborn with have moved up so she will see a lot of familiar faces over there.

She will start eating meals family style and with spoons/forks and plates. She will also be given snacks as well. She’s a little earlier than a year old, but I think we will start transitioning off of formula and onto whole milk. I seriously won’t know what to do when I don’t have to make formula anymore.  I will feel lost!  She will no longer be taking bottles in the next room, so I would rather not have to worry about mixing up the formula and pouring it in a sippy cup.

My little girl is growing so fast.  I can’t believe she will be a year old on Sept 1!  It’s hard for me to comprehend.  It just seems like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital.

We did get some sad news.  Addisons teacher, Mrs. Madisetty, will be leaving the daycare and moving to Texas.  She has been so good to Addison, and Addison loves her SO much.  I knew she would miss her dearly just being in the toddler room, but we thought we might stop by the infant room occationally for a quick visit.  But, she’ll be away completely.  We will miss her dearly.  I was hoping she would hold out until Baby#2 in a couple years.   I don’t know what we would have done without her.
